About Beta Cat:

β Cat Pharmaceuticals, LLC (“β Cat” or the “Company”) is seeking financial partners for the development of and future sale to a pharmaceutical partner of compounds from its WNT/beta catenin modulator program.   β Cat  successfully acquired the program from Avalon Pharmaceuticals, a Maryland based biotech which was a casualty of the recent financial meltdown in the USA, when the failure of financial companies in the USA made refinancing an impossibility. The lead compound, BC2059, is in late stage preclinical development and, assuming a positive outcome from pending IND-enabling GLP toxicity studies, should be ready for human clinical trials within a year. Preclinical data suggests that BC2059 and related compounds, and other distinct compound families discovered in this program, are potent and specific inhibitors of WNT pathway function and specifically promote proteosomal degradation of beta catenin in the cytoplasm, preventing beta catenin from entering the nucleus where it is thought to be a major driver of cancer proliferation.

Highlights :

• BC2059 is a potent and specific small molecule inhibitor of beta-catenin protein function and WNT pathway activity.
• Causes specific degradation of beta catenin protein
• Has little or no activity in non-cancerous cells
• Depletes pharmacodynamic (PD) markers upon short term treatment of tumor bearing mice
• Significantly reduces tumor growth in mouse xenograft models
• Preclinical pharmacological properties have been optimized
• Good pharmacokinetic properties and potential therapeutic window

The program is completing in vivo experiments in a number of cancer models and getting ready for CMC scale up, cGLP toxicology and IND submission.

β Cat is run by a small group of experienced pharmaceutical and drug development experts with a highly efficient low cost but very high quality development model.  This effective model plus success with such an important cancer target across many tumor types would provide exception returns should this molecule be successful in early clinical studies.

Funding & Partnering :

• Currently we are seeking equity finance partners to see Beta Cat through the Phase IIa clinical trials process at which point out-licensing will become the objective

• For a limited timeframe any Beta Cat equity investment partner is eligible for a 50% reimbursement of their investment funds from the State of Maryland as Beta Cat is a participating Maryland based entity, as part of that State's initiative to boost the industry.
